Many cellular processes are controlled by protein-protein interactions. To expedite the identification of disease markers and therapeutic targets, better understanding of these interactions is needed. Characterization of the critical amino acid contacts that determine binding affinity, and hence the outcome of any particular molecular interaction, is a daunting task due to the magnitude of the screening process. For example, selection of the optimum octapeptide for a particular anti-peptide antibody would theoretically require the evaluation of 25.6 billion unique peptide sequences.
We have developed a fragment-based approach to the high-throughput analysis of peptide space using our Combinatorial Artificial Receptor Array (CARA®) technology. CARA-II and CARA-III-based microarray products are targeted toward defining affinity fingerprints for bioreagent and diagnostics development.
RECEPTORS' PSEUDOEPITOPE FINGERPRINT ARRAYS™ are built around the CARA-II approach, which uses a defined set of dipeptide mimic building blocks in combinatorial, polyvalent surface displays to produce diverse "pseudopeptide environments" in a microarray format. Affinity-driven interaction between the molecule of interest and the pseudoepitope environments on the array creates a unique fingerprint.
RECEPTORS' MICROBE ON TARGET DETECTION ARRAYS™ utilize our CARA-III technology. The sugar-like building blocks that are the foundation of this approach were developed to mimic natural microbe binding partners.
